FLORENCE – The American Cancer Society and Regency Square Mall joined forces on Saturday, March 10th to honor some hard working women with green hair, the “Kudzu Queens.” It is not hard to pick these ladies out of a crowd, green hair and all… But they actually do a great service to The Shoals. The Kudzu Queens provide emotional support for cancer patients and hold a number of events to raise money to help patients in need.

This Saturday, The Kudzu Queens were featured at “Kudzu Queens’ Kickin Cancer Event.” There were more than 20 booths spread throughout the Mall that were related to Shoals cancer service providers or support and information. The Shoals cities of Florence, Muscle Shoals, Tuscumbia and Sheffield proclaimed the day to be “Cancer Awareness Day”.

Many of The Shoals’ health-related services attended the event, including the new Cancer Resource Center at Helen Keller Hospital. Click on this LINK to read a related story on the center.
